北海道室蘭市（むろらんし）

北海道南西部に位置する室蘭市は、太平洋と内浦湾（噴火湾）の境に突き出した絵鞆半島（えともはんとう）を中心に市域が広がる。

室蘭市の観光スポットは、室蘭港の夜景、「21世紀に残したい北海道自然100選」得票第1位のチキウ岬（地球岬）をはじめとする室蘭八景、白鳥大橋など。また、室蘭市など8市町村が面する噴火湾は、春から秋にかけて数多くのイルカが湾内を回遊し、クジラやイルカをウオッチング出来る海として知られている。

室蘭市東部にある全長2kmのイタンキ浜は、「鳴き砂の浜」としても貴重な砂浜。近年はサーフィンスポットとしても知られ、夏場は多くの市民でにぎわう。
